Why Do We Do This?
We, the artists participating in this project, are questioning the
accepted models of art creation and ownership. This art comes from the
passion to create. It is an expression of our combined visions and our
desire to share what we have have found. The primary value has been
the growth we have gained in creating the pieces.
In hopes that others also gain from our work, we have set these works
free to be copied and to evolve in the hands of others, but we have
not disowned them. We wish to be known for the works we have created
and welcome dialog with other artists, commerical interest in the
existing pieces or commisions for new works. The cost of make
individual digital copies of these works is negligible, so we are
opening the process up to pursue new ways to think about the creative
process.
Another goal is to get our work out to an audience that might never
see the work otherwise. A common complaint we hear from emerging
artists is that they feel like they don't have an audience. This
vacuum can lead to an inability to work. This projects aims to
nurture the creation of new art by providing a way for the artists to
get creative feedback on the work they have done.
