Comments
This species is an extraordinarily good edible, but must be collected by experts. There are several closely related species that occur in the same habitat that are deadly poisonous. Key characteristics include the salmon-pink cap color, the lack of partial veil, a voluminous sack-like volva, a persistent volval patch on cap and a striate cap margin.
Processing
Original image was taken on 35mm Fuji Velvia using a Nikon 55mm macro lens. The slide was then digitized with a Nikon Coolscan with 24bit color depth. The color depth was reduced to 8bits using Debabelizer.
