Morchella elata
Fr.

- Photographer
- Nathan Wilson
- Common Name
- Black Morel
- Location
- San Bernardino Mountains in California
- Time
- May 1995
- Habitat
- Mixed conifer forest.
- Comments
- A very tasty fungus! This species and its
close relatives are often found in supermarkets either fresh or dried.
However, it is very important to throughly cook morels (fresh or dry),
since they contain a toxin that breaks down under high heat.
- Processing
- Original image was taken on 35mm Fuji
Velvia using a Nikon 55mm macro lens. The slide was then digitized
with a Nikon Coolscan with 24bit color depth. The color depth was
reduced to 8bits using Debabelizer.
